How 10 Minutes a Day of Journaling can change your life!
Even if writing ‘isn’t your thing’, you will sure find the benefits of journaling daily.
Even as little as 10 minutes a day can be so powerful!
Let’s move away from ‘Dear Diary …’ think of journaling as your release, your escape … your therapy.
Journaling can come in all forms but one of my favourite ways to journal is through affirmation & gratitude journaling.
Through what now?
Starting your day with some affirmation journaling can truly move your day onto a different level. Your morning gratitude vibes & cementing them with the Universe can lift your thoughts higher. When your thoughts are good you attract good things to you.
(This a whole other blog post, but the Law of Attraction works on vibrations. We want your vibrations to be high so you can attract higher vibes to you!)
So, ensuring you have high, good, solid thoughts is the best way to start your day.
See here 5 life-changing benefits journaling can have (this list is not exhaustive …).
1. REDUCE STRESS/DEPRESSION
Studies have proven that journaling can reduce stress levels.
What we focus on can have a negative or positive effect on our stress-levels. When it comes to writing down positive affirmations, if only 10 mins a day, you will focus on this positivity rather than negative distractions that could be stressing you out.
You can then use this affirmation journaling throughout the day, for example, when you feel your stress levels rising, focus on the affirmations to bring yourself back to a calmer state. I understand this is easier said than done, however, once you get into the habit of journaling every day, you will be able to recognise and stop the negativity in its tracks.
2. CAN SHARPEN YOUR THOUGHTS
How often do you find your mind wandering throughout the day? If it’s not written on your to-do list, it’s just not happening … or you feel there are far too many things to do and not enough time?
When you start journaling you start to put things into perspective, allowing your thoughts to stay focused. When you are focused, your thoughts are much sharpen leading to more productivity.
3. IMPROVES SELF-REFLECTION
When we journal, we allow ourselves to self-reflect. It’s inevitable that journaling leads to understanding yourself better, because this is what you are focusing on.
Journaling with affirmations or journaling in free-form (writing down your thoughts, emotions etc.) allows you to understand what isn’t working in your life right now, what things you’d like to change and what you can do about making these changes.
It also allows you to see what is working and what you need to do to continue making it work. In doing this it allows you to set yourself goals which you can aim towards.
4. BOOST & INSPIRES CREATIVITY
When journaling you unlock a barrier within, because it’s a private kind of therapy that releases endorphins. These endorphins make you feel good, give you confidence and inspire you!
Exploring this part of our brain allows us to unleash our creative side, so the more you journal the more creative you’ll feel. Once you have the confidence and inspiration, they’ll be no stopping you with new and exciting projects.
5. IMPROVES MENTAL HEALTH
If you’ve read the above points, you’ll be able to see how each point can help mental health. From inspiring to focusing, journaling is a wonderful way to give yourself an overall boost.
You can even take your journaling further and create your own story!
There’s no limits! The possibilities are endless! It’s about getting started and keeping the momentum going.
So grab yourself a notebook and start jotting down your thoughts … before you know where you are your thoughts will be more aligned with all the things you want!
